Sekondi-Takoradi diocese goes "religious"

On July 3rd,2014 Pope Francis appointed Mgsr. John Bonnaventure kwofie,CSSp as the fourth bishop of the Sekondi takoradi catholic diocese. At the time of his appointment,he was an Assistant Professor at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh,USA.

Msgr . John Bonnaventure kwofie was ordained and installed as the fourth but first Religious bishop of the diocese at a colourful ceremony at the Takoradi polytechnic park on 13th September,2014 with Peter Cardinal Appiah Turkson as the principal consecrator with Most. Rev. Kobena Nketsia and Most. Rev. Marie Speich as co- consecrators.

On Sunday 14th September,2014 at the star of the sea cathedral, bishop had his solemn thanksgiving mass. It was during this celebration that he choose Very Rev.Fr Mesu as his interim Vicar General.

Bishop kwofie then met with all the Priests and Religious in the diocese on Thursday 18th September,2014 at the pastoral center.

A committee of seven priests was formed to review the diocesan status with Rev.Fr John Baptist Attakruh as the Chairman.
Another committee was also formed tasked with producing a monthly diocesan newsletter. This committee was made up of four priests including yours truly and one religious sister.
