The Priest, man of sacrifice

It was time for lunch so my Pastor and I were at table and as if by divine design I took my phone to table something I hardly do unless am expecting a call. Then at table I had a call at 1:15pm requesting for the sacrament of anointing of the sick, instinctively I covered my food, washed my hand under running water and left my Pastor at table.

The look on his face suggestion since you are almost done with the meal why don’t you finish off and go. Well since his communication was non verbal I ignored it.

I then took the things I need and drove off to give the sacrament. I came back washed my hands again under running water and finished off my meal. Interestingly my Pastor was still at table waiting for my arrival though he had finished his meal.He then asked me about the anointing and I replied that the only thing the woman did was to yawn after I had finished giving her the sacrament.

Then at 4:30pm I got call another informing me that the woman had passed on…MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE.

This is not my first anointing but I have chosen to share it with you because of the impression it has made on me.
In life personal discipline is good but there comes a time when we have to let go of the rules to be there for somebody. It is the disposition and the eagerness to be of help that matters.

People have often refuse helping others not because they don’t want to be of help, they want to but they argue the timing is not right. The call to help is a call to sacrifice and the call to sacrifice is not time bound. If only people will be ready to let go of their comfort we could indeed transform the pain of our friends.
I pray you will start with yourself by sacrificing your time for your private endeavours when you are call upon to do so.
It all happened to me today 20th september, 2014 and it can happen to you soon.
