CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF SEKONDI-TAKORADI SUPPORTS 70 FISHMONGERS
The office of Women and Gender Development of the Catholic Diocese of Sekondi-Takoradi in conjunction with the Diocesan Development Office has held the second phase of the three phase support project for needy and poor fishmongers at a ceremony at Aboadze on 10th April, 2018.
Msgr. Francis Abuah-Quansah, on behalf of the Bishop acknowledged the immense contribution of women to the Church and society. He further assured them of the Bishop’s commitment at ensuring that they are empowered to cater for their families.
Madam Linda Barbara Aggrey, the Diocesan Women and Gender Development Coordinator urged the women to see the donation as the Diocese’s contribution towards making them self reliant and independent. She charged them to organize themselves and come together as groups to support one another.
Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Austin advised the women to remain resolute in the faith to enable them become exemplary witnesses of the faith.
Rev. Fr. Anthony Aidoo, on behalf of the women expressed his profound gratitude to the Diocese for the gesture.
The beneficiaries were drawn from Aboadze, Abuesi, Essaman, Essikadu, Nkyersia and Anglo beach. And they were given items of basins, knives and other accessories.
The next and final donation will take place at Asenda for some selected coastal towns in the Axim and Half Assini Deaneries. Funds for the donation were from Mr and Mrs Agartha Jox of Germany.
